Fun and adventure are part of each summer on the St. John River. Jet skiing is one way to enjoy this popular waterway.

As it was in the beginning, there is even now no trace of overhead wires as the development plan in this half-century old city included underground utilities.

Sir Douglas Hazen Park is found where St. John waters meet the Oromocto flow.

A trail system and a waterfowl reserve offer a pleasant diversion for nature lovers in need of putting terra firma underfoot. The Oromocto Boat Club has a marina and welcomes visiting vessels.

Cruising will take boaters from Oromocto up to Fredericton. There boaters can visit either the Regent Street Wharf or the Fredericton Yacht Club.

The City of Fredericton has numerous attractions, including shops, pubs and nightlife in the Tannery Entertainment District. The Historic Garrison District also offers free entertainment nightly during the summer months. Fredericton is also awash with festivals during boating season, including the Fredericton RiverFest each June, and the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, the third September of each year, featuring more than 350 artists.

All along the St. John River, there is plenty to do and see that will keep boaters enthralled by their trip.

The south side of the Bay of Fundy, which borders Nova Scotia, can be approached by either crossing the Gulf of Maine, if boating from the northeastern United States, or by rounding southwestern Nova Scotia at Yarmouth County.

Boaters coming from the Nova Scotia side can check out St. Mary's Bay, a fishing community, with rugged cliffs on one side and a large sandy beach at Mavillette on the other, before rounding Digby Neck to the Bay of Fundy.

Digby Neck runs off the northwestern shore of Digby County. It has two islands (Freeport and Brier) off its tip, where numerous whale watching companies have been established.

Small ferries, which connect the islands to the mainland, are named the Joshua Slocum and the Spray. They are named after local captain (and his boat) who became the first man to circumnavigate the globe alone from 1895-1898. The two ferries were used in the shooting of movie Dolores Claiborne, based on the Stephen King's novel of the same name.
